In 1993, Akemi Welsh started Polynesian Paradise (PPD), a professional Polynesian entertainment company specializing in the traditional dances and music of the Polynesian Islands.  Over the years, the Company has had the honor of sharing the culture with audiences throughout the US in 31 states, Japan, Guam, Marshal Islands, China and Abu Dhabi, including dignitaries and celebrities.Recent performances include a daily 5-week run of the “Lilo & Stitch Hawaiian Beach Party” at the El Capitan Theater (Hollywood, CA). A nightly 8-week run at the Pageant of the Masters (Laguna Beach, CA) and The Company has also performed for the celebrity premieres of Disney’s animated feature Lilo & Stitch – in Hollywood, CA & at Elvis Presley’s Graceland in Memphis, TN – and Adam Sandler’s 50 First Dates in Westwood, CA. PPD can be seen dancing in the Adam Sandler movie Bed time stories, Backyard Nation, Tuckerville and My Tacky Room. Other highlights include performances at the Playboy Mansion, the Walt Disney Studios, Paramount Studio, the homes of Arnold Schwarzeneggar, Rob Zombie & Mayor Jim Hahn.
